What I actually do as a Life and Career Coach

Over the past few months, a number of new people have found me through LinkedIn, search, and word of mouth, so I thought it was a good time to properly reintroduce myself and share what I actually do.

I am Ciaran Barry, a Life and Career coach based in Cork.

I work with people from all over Ireland and Europe who are at a crossroads. Professionally, personally, or both. People who have the ability and the experience but have lost the confidence to act on it. People who know something needs to change but cannot quite see the path forward yet. One of the things I see consistently in the people who come to me is that the problem is rarely a lack of skill or opportunity. It is self-doubt. When confidence takes a hit, it does not just affect how you feel. It affects the decisions you make, the roles you go after, the conversations you avoid, and the version of yourself you present at work.

Over time, that self-doubt becomes the thing keeping you stuck. Not your circumstances. But here is what I have learned working with clients across different industries and career stages. Most people already know what they need to do. What they are missing is clarity, an honest sounding board, and the confidence to back themselves when it matters most.

This is where my work comes in.

I work one to one with professionals who are:

  • Feeling stuck in their current role with no clear sense of what comes next.
  • Holding themselves back from opportunities, promotions, or difficult conversations.
  • At a career crossroads and unsure which direction to take.
  • Struggling with self-doubt that is clouding their judgement and decision making.
  • Ready to make a move but unsure where to start.

My work covers career direction and clarity, confidence and mindset, job search strategy and personal positioning, and navigating transitions, whether that is a sector change, a step up, or a fresh start.

If this sounds like where you are right now, or someone in your network, I would love to connect. Book a free Consultation.
